Shares of Salix fell 91 cents, or 6 percent, to $14.17 on the Nasdaq at nearly four times their average volume.

Shares have traded between $13.94 and $22.79 over the past 52 weeks.

Buy-side analysts covering Salix maintained their ratings on the opinion that the clinical trial waivers for Vancocin would not likely work with Colazal because of differences on how the drug is absorbed by the body.
