Crohn's Foundation to host bowl-a-thon... Most are diagnosed before age 30, including many young children. To help area residents learn more about this debilitating condition, the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) is hosting a bowl-a-thon on Sunday, March 26 at Cedar Bowl in North Platte. "We invite people to come out and have a good time with their family and support a good cause," said Tamran Berol of North Platte, who is organizing the event. Touted as "Bowling for Bowels," the event is open to all individuals and groups. The registration fee is $5 for an evening of cosmic bowling starting at 5:30 p.m. In addition to being an educational event, Berol said the bowl-a-thon is also a fundraiser. Prizes will be awarded for those who raise money for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. Those who raise $50 will receive a special t-shirt from the event. Berol said proceeds will be used for education and research for this devastating disease, which has no known cure. CCFA chapters throughout the nation will be hosting similar fundraisers. Berol said the main focus of these events is simply to educate people about this little known disease. "There's just no education between Denver and Omaha," Berol said.
