No formal awards were handed out - just bragging rights.Isolabella won the competition.

The band has been together for two years, and members describe their music as a combination of classic and modern rock.

Second place went to the Devastators , while Bekjo snagged third place.One of the Isolabella's guitarists, Brandon Dennis, 19, of Ankeny, said his group was pumped up after winning the competition."We were really surprised," Dennis said.

"It was a very surreal feeling."It was thrilling to perform in front of such a large crowd, Dennis said.

"It was great to see this many people come out."Nikki Kloberdanz, 19, of Ankeny said she enjoyed the many styles of music showcased at the Battle of the Bands."It was a variety of different kinds of music," Kloberdanz said.Ankeny High School economics teacher Greg Lage made good on a previous fundraiser bet, appearing on stage in a dress.Lage had challenged students in February to raise more than $6,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
